About World Teen Mental Wellness Day
March 2nd is World Teen Mental Wellness Day, recognizing the importance of normalizing and dismantling stigmas around teen mental health issues.
Studies reveal one in five teenagers struggle with a mental health diagnosis, yet less than a third will seek help.
According to the American Psychological Association, Gen Z has the worst mental health of any generation. Social media and unrealistic expectations for beauty and wealth standards contribute to the mental health crisis happening across generations. However, it also said that Gen Z-ers are dedicated to making a difference in their mental health.
The national holiday founded in 2020 by the retail brand, Hollister, is dedicated to observing teen mental wellness.
Teens have the worst mental health of any living generation & are the most stressed-out generation of all time. Hollister wanted to change that and disrupt the stigma surrounding mental health. They founded World Teen Mental Wellness Day as an annual reminder to take time to make time for yourself. Recharge, feel your feelings and replenish your own resources, so you have more to give to yourself, others and the world.
