About International Day Against Climate Change
On October 24th, since 2009, the International Day Against Climate Change is celebrated with the aim of sensitizing, raising awareness and warning about the consequences of climate change and the risks it causes for all life on the planet.
Climate change is any significant change in the planet's climate system, which lasts for decades or longer and affects large territorial areas. It is mainly due to greenhouse gas emissions, which come from the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, agriculture and intensive livestock, among other human activities.
The consequences of climate change are increasingly evident and serious, so it is urgent to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to the effects of climate change and promote a transition to a low-carbon economy and a more sustainable society.
