Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote. This non-partisan, unofficial national holiday aimed at encouraging all eligible voters to register and make their voices heard has been observed since 2012.
As a non-partisan national holiday, National Voter Registration Day counts on thousands of partners and volunteers across the political spectrum. Started in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote.
