About National Piercing Day
National Piercing Day is an unofficial national holiday in the United States, observed on May 16th each year.
The holiday was founded in 2007 by GoofyAuctions.com, a now-defunct website that highlighted unusual eBay auctions, as a means of celebrating ear, face and body piercings.
The holiday gained popularity through shares on MySpace, and is widely celebrated today on Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram, where the hashtag #NationalPiercingDay trends annually.
How to Celebrate National Piercing Day
Get A New Piercing.
Do a little research to see what tattoo and piercing shops are having specials in your area - you might be able to snag a good deal on your new piercing. What's that one piercing you have been eyeballing for a while? The beauty of getting a new piercing is that it's an impulse decision that makes for memories to last a lifetime. It's easier to say yes to a piercing than a tattoo, because you always have the option to change your mind. Just take it out and let it heal.
Buy Yourself A New Pair Of Earrings.
If you can't go get a new piercing today, then do the next best thing! Why not treat yourself and buy some new jewelry to put in your existing (healed) piercings you've been meaning to change out for a while. Go on a little shopping spree and have some fun. Piercings are meant to be enjoyed!
Leave a review online for the shops you've had tattoos and piercings done at in the past.
Write an online review for your local piercing shop. Spread positive karma and support the safe, reliable businesses you trust for piercings. The small yet impactful gesture will mean so much to the shop owner and staff.
Post, Like, Tag, & Share!
Share pictures of your favorite piercings (or the ones on your most-wanted list), using the tag #NationalPiercingDay!
