National Muffin Day in USA in 2025
In 2013, Jacob Kauffman, a citizen of San Fransisco, started giving away free muffins to homeless people on his way to work.
He noticed the inner peace he would get from helping the ones in need and continued the act of charity every day.
Eventually, his generosity gained attention amongst the general public, and muffin day was founded to acknowledge and appreciate his efforts to help the poor.
History of Muffins
Muffins have been a popular snack for centuries and have evolved over time. The origin of the muffin dates back to medieval England when cooks created small cakes that were cooked in ashes. These early muffins were made from flour, sugar, yeast and nuts and raisins.
The word originates from the French word “Moufflet”
By the mid-18th century, plain muffins had become popular in Britain with the addition of fat and eggs to lighten up the texture.
