About National LED Light Day
Since 2016, National LED Light Day has been observed on October 7th to recognize and celebrate the advancements of one of the most important scientific achievements in recent history, the development of blue light-emitting diodes.
This technology was developed by Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura, who all received a Nobel prize in Physics on October 7th 2014 for their achievement. It’s because of Akasaki, Amano, and Nakamura’s invention that white LEDs became possible.
