About National Drug Take Back Day
Also known as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, this day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Since 2010, the Drug Enforcement Administration event has collected more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs, including opioid and other medications susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. DEA offers posters and other materials to help hospitals and other partners promote the event in their community.
