About National Creme de Menthe Day
Creme de Menthe is a mint-flavored liqueur. It's made with a variety of herbs, including, mint, chocolate, vanilla and cloves.
It is usually made with Corsican mint or peppermint, which is steeped in grain alcohol for several weeks before it is filtered and sweetened to create the final product. It typically has 25% alcohol by volume.
The name "creme de menthe" is French for "Mint Cream". It's also called "Green Creme de Menthe" or "White Creme de Menthe". Creme de Menthe is extremely popular in the United States. It's typically used for mixed drinks and desserts.
