About National Cream Cheese Brownie Day
Arguably the best way to celebrate National Cream Cheese Brownie Day is to make or eat a cream cheese brownie, or both.
Recipe
Ingredients:
-1/2 cup (120 ml) unsalted butter, at room temperature
-1/2 cup (120 ml) granulated sugar
-3/4 cup (180 ml) all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/8 teaspoon salt
-2 large eggs, beaten
-1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
-1 package (8 ounces, 225 g) cream cheese, at room temperature
-1/4 cup (60 ml) vegetable oil
-1 1/2 cups (360 ml) confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in eggs until well blended. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the milk until the batter is smooth. Spread the batter in the prepared pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Cut cream cheese into small pieces and stir into batter. Pour mixture over brownies and spread evenly. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
