About National Consignment Day
National Consignment Day is designed to promote consignment in the apparel industry as a way to reduce waste. More than 80 billion pieces of apparel are manufactured each year and 75% of those wind up in landfills.
National Consignment Day will take place annually on the first Monday of October.
According to Julie Wainwright, CEO and Founder of The RealReal, National Consignment Day “allows us to raise awareness about the circular economy, especially as it applies to the luxury market.”
