About National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day
This holiday is inspired by the book series Chicken Soup for the Soul, and is about reflecting on and celebrating where you've been and where you are headed.
Started in 1993, Chicken Soup for the Soul is a series of books, usually featuring a collection of short, inspirational stories and motivational essays. The 101 stories in the first book of the series were compiled by motivational speakers Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
According to multiple online sources, the publisher of the book series has said the day is "...a celebration of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!"
In 2014, owner and editor-in-chief Amy Newmark said about the holiday, "We did not create National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day, and we don’t know where it came from." She added that it had already been appearing on calendars at the time she came to the company in 2008. The day can also be used to celebrate Chicken Soup for the Soul books in general.
