About National Banana Cream Pie Day
Ingredients:
-1 pie crust
-3/4 cup sugar
-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-2 eggs
-2 tablespoons butter
-1 ripe banana, mashed
-1/4 cup milk
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Grease and flour a 9 inch pie pan.
In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, flour and salt; set aside.
In another medium bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy.
Add the butter and mashed banana; mix well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
Pour mixture into prepared pan.
Bake for 10 minutes; remove from oven.
Set aside to cool.
Pour milk and vanilla extract into a small saucepan; heat over low heat until warm.
Pour over pie; let soak for a few minutes.
Serve warm or cold.
