About American Business Women’s Day
September 22nd is American Business Women’s Day, a day to celebrate all the great accomplishments, contributions, and many successes of American women in the workforce.
September 22nd was chosen as the date for this holiday because it’s when the American Business Women’s Association was created in 1949.
The American Business Women’s Association was created in 1949 to allow women to network together and to help them achieve their goals. A holiday that commemorates this organization would eventually be created in 1982 when American Business Women’s Day was created.
The holiday was officially observed by the United States Congress in 1983 with a proclamation. Proclamations affirming this holiday would also be issued in 1984, 1985, and 1986.
