About World Refugee Day
World Refugee Day is observed on June 20 every year. It was designated a holiday by the United Nations General Assembly in 2001.
This event marks the courage, strength and determination of all the men, women and children who were forced to flee from their homeland under threat of conflict and violence. People honor the courage of millions of refugees across the world on this day.
Organizations such as Amnesty International and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) get involved actively in the various activities of the day.The United Nations website has a number of activities to help you observe this day at home, including art contests and musical performances.
