About Polish Armed Forces Day
It's that time of the year again in cities across Poland when the streets come alive with the spirit of national pride and splendor. Every year on August 15th, Poland celebrates the Feast of the Polish Armed Forces, fondly known as Poland Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day is a national holiday that commemorates the anniversary of the 1920 victory over Soviet Russia at the Battle of Warsaw during the Polish–Soviet War.
This day is celebrated through military parades, vehicle displays, and remembrances of soldiers that gave their lives for Poland.
The holiday features military reviews, showcases and ceremonies across the country, but especially in Warsaw. Although Armed Forces Day was banned under Soviet rule from 1947 to 1992, the holiday was revived.
