About Flag Day
On June 7th in Peru, Flag Day is celebrated as the creation of the first Peruvian flag is remembered, which was designed by General José de la Riva-Agüero y Sánchez-Boquete on June 7th 1822.
During this Flag Day celebration, various activities are held to pay homage to the national symbol. Civic parades, ceremonies in schools and official acts are held in which the Peruvian flag is hoisted and national anthems are sung.
The Executive Power observed this Friday the norm that had been approved during the plenary session of the Congress of the republic which declared June 7th as a holiday on the occasion of the commemoration of the battle of Arica and the Flag Day. This was reported by the head of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola Peñaranda.
