About Teachers' Day
In India, Teachers' Day is observed to honour the bond between the children and their mentors who influence their lives in several ways.

It is celebrated on September 5th to mark the birthday of former President, politician, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna recipient, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on the same day in 1888.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was an Indian academic, professor, philosopher, and politician who served as the first Vice President of India and the second President of India.
Despite all his accomplishments and contributions, Dr Radhakrishnan remained a teacher throughout his life. He believed that true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves, so they should be the best minds in the nation.
