About Mother Tongue Day
Mother Tongue Day (Emakeelepäev) was first recognized as an Estonian national holiday in 1999.
It is celebrated on March 14th and marks the birthday of Kristjan Jaak Peterson, one of the founding fathers of Estonian poetic tradition.
