About Flooding of the Nile
The flooding of the Nile has been an important natural cycle in Egypt since ancient times. It is celebrated by Egyptians as an annual holiday for two weeks starting August 15th, known as Wafaa El-Nil.
The annual Nile floods have historically been the most important natural event in Egypt by far. Every year the great flood gifts Northeast Africa the water and silt that brings life to the Sahara desert.
