About Canadian Armed Forces Day
Canadian Armed Forces Day (CAFD) takes place on the first Sunday in June and is a celebration of the members of the Canadian Armed Forces, both those who are currently serving and those who have served in the past.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF; French: Forces armées canadiennes; FAC) is the unified military of Canada, including sea, land, and air elements referred to as the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force.
Speaking in 2002, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said: "Today, we honour and recognize members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who display unwavering courage, sacrifice, and selflessness every day they wear the uniform. Here at home and around the world, they embody the values we hold dear – peace, freedom, and democracy."
